<a href="http://kansieo.com/">Caffeinated Content</a>

I have been a bank examiner and also a consultant to the banking industry. Anything you can image I have seen. This includes mortgages on strip clubs and hourly motels, the President of the bank told me that the occupancy of the motel was over 100%! Funeral homes borrow money to buy hearses, you know. A former client had a $1 million dollar loan on a Ferrari (I think) which had won LeMans. Imagine my surprise to find a $1 million loan in the automobile portfolio! In rural areas borrowing on crop and livestock collateral is common. I remember a bank which made a loan secured by bull semen, I kid you not.

Some of the saddest ones I remember were applications for loans to pay for funeral expenses. I remember one bank in Appalachia with a $100 loan to a woman to buy a dress to go to her daughter's funeral.

I took a personal loan coz I'd run out of money to renew my expired passport! It was a very small sum of money, so I had to include couple of other expenses in, just to make it up to a loanable amount. Can still remember that *disgusted* look the loan executive gave me!
