Imagine my surprise to find a $1 million loan in the automobile portfolio! In rural areas borrowing on crop and livestock collateral is common. I remember a bank which made a loan secured by bull semen, I kid you not. Some of the saddest ones I remember were applications for loans to pay for funeral expenses.
